Sports & Recreation

Stó:lô Tribal Council sponsored a soccer camp on August 26, 27, 28 in Seabird. The camp was a huge success with over 45 youth attending. Head Coach Shawn Lowther from Abbotsford Soccer Association was the facilitator for the three day camp. Children that attended the camp received both a T-shirt and soccer ball for their participation. The kids really enjoyed themselves especially the younger group 6-8 yr olds.

Shawn emphasized that the most important thing for the kids to remember about the game of soccer is too have fun and enjoy the game. At a young age, he mentioned that we should concentrate at developing our children’s abilities and when they get older (13 and up)we can concentrate about competing. Competing at a young age might deter children from playing the game.

Stó:lô Tribal Council is also interested in developing a program for this fall. Any children interested in playing, please contact Andy Phillips at our Stó:lô Tribal Council office. A registration form will be going out shortly to all our communities.
